Description
GUARDIAN SERIES – Home Standby Generators
Automatic. Permanent. Ready before you are.
A home standby generator is installed permanently outside the house, much like an air conditioning condenser, and wired to your switchboard through an automatic transfer switch. The transfer switch watches the incoming mains supply continuously. When it sees the power drop out it signals the generator to start, waits for the output to stabilise, then moves the house across to generator supply. Nobody has to be home, and there are no leads to drag out or fuel to carry. The transfer switch is a separate item, sized to the generator and to your supply.
Because the Guardian runs on natural gas or LP gas rather than petrol or diesel, there is no fuel to store and nothing to go stale between outages. Connected to a mains gas line it will run for as long as the outage lasts. Every unit exercises itself for five minutes on a set schedule so you find out it is healthy long before you need it, and Mobile Link Wi-Fi monitoring reports status, run hours and maintenance alerts to your phone.
This 10kVA home standby generator is the single phase Guardian sized for an average family home. It carries 10,000 VA on either natural gas or LP gas at 220 V, through a 50 amp main line circuit breaker, which is enough to hold lighting, refrigeration, cooking, internet and a reverse cycle system across a blackout.
True Power electrical technology keeps total harmonic distortion under 5 percent, so computers, chargers, medical equipment and inverter air conditioning run on it exactly as they do on mains. The sound attenuated aluminium enclosure measures 64 dB(A) at 7 metres under normal load and drops to 55 dB(A) during its low-speed exercise run, and it is rated to withstand winds to 241 km/h.

Cylinder run times are calculated from the LP gas consumption figures above, at 1 kg of LPG to 1.96 litres. Actual times vary with load, ambient temperature and cylinder condition. A single cylinder can only give off vapour so fast, so installations of this size are normally run from a bank of cylinders or a mains gas connection. Your gas fitter will size the supply.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an automatic transfer switch included?
No. The transfer switch is ordered separately. This single phase Guardian is paired with the LTS 70A (1Ph) Gas transfer switch, which is the unit your electrician will need to complete the installation. Add it to the same order and the pair arrives together.
How much gas does it use?
On natural gas it draws 3.57 cubic metres an hour at half load and 5.78 at full load. On LP gas that is 4.70 litres an hour at half load and 7.24 at full load.
How long will it run on a 45 kg gas bottle?
About 18.8 hours at half load or 12.2 hours at full load. A 90 kg cylinder gives roughly 37.5 and 24.4 hours, and a 210 kg cylinder roughly 87.6 and 56.9 hours. On a mains gas connection there is no limit.
How loud is it?
64 dB(A) at 7 metres under normal load, and 55 dB(A) during its low-speed exercise run.
Can Ozwide arrange the installation?
Yes. We can organise the licensed gas fitter and electrician to install and commission the system, so you are not left coordinating two trades yourself. Tell us the property address and what you want backed up and we will quote the supply and the installation together.
Does it run on natural gas or LPG?
Both. The Guardian is configured for natural gas or LP gas operation. On a mains gas connection there is nothing to refill, so run time is limited only by the length of the outage.
What warranty does it carry?
Five year limited warranty. The unit is RCM approved for sale and use in Australia.
